1958 Plymouth Fury, ‘Christine’

Based on Stephen King's novel about an evil hunk of automotive metal, the 1983 horror classic "Christine" featured a red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury as its title character. A sentient but possessed car that could mysteriously repair herself, Christine could also communicate her murderous intentions. Although there were some human actors in the movie, they've long been forgotten. Who could upstage an evil 1950s land yacht with huge tail fins?

NO BATMOBILE!!!!!!
The 66 Batmobile has to be the ultimate movie car bar none!
The Tumbler is a pretty iconic car - the bastard offspring of Lambourghini and Hummer.

AND WHAT ABOUT BLACK BEAUTY??????

ELEANOR?????!!!!!

DEATH RACE 2000????
RAIN MAN?

Seems the best movie cars are actually missing from that list.

Half of those cars are just stock, average cars, (Risky Business, Iron Man)!!!!!!

Sorry fellas but half that list is crap!

Are we talking specific movie cars or television cars too? That's where the '66 batmobile would come in. Along with the general lee, monsters coach etc. I never did care much for the movie Batmobiles. But the ghostbusters car should be there too no?

Now, back on thread:

NOBODY MENTIONED ELEANOR!!!!!!

The 66 Batmobile WAS in a movie.

Connor Macloud's Porsche Speedster in Highlander

Thelma & Louise Thunderbird??? (Personally I don't like the 66-style flairbirds).

Elvira's spooky 1959 Thunderbird?? Anyone?

Walter White's Aztec???? Yuk!! (I know, TV only).

The Daytona in Miami Vice (TV again).

Any Fast N Furious car as long as it is only Vin Deisel's GTO or a Skyline......(the rest is just Jap-crap).

Will Darnell's Cadillac?

What is the "somewhere in time" car?

TV only: Jim Rockford's Pontiac!!!
Man from Uncle Car.

Worst car ever on TV: Those anaemic fox-bodied Mustinks driven by Charlie's Angels

There was a movie linked from OIC called Devil's Island. It had a 59 Fury coupe in it. I think it was shot in Iceland. The guy was obsessed with the fifties. He imported the Fury and started a greaser gang with his friends. The whole town made fun of his car. His family was pissed that he spent all of his savings. I think the film was all subtitled.

No Black Beauty, no Batmobile, no Eleanor!!!!

Replace those crappy little red/white/blue minis with the three cars above and you have a list starting to approach cool.

As a long-suffering owner of a Mini I never understood the attraction of The Italian Job: crap cars, nauseating cockney accents, 'Herbie' style car stunts and a truely annoying theme tune!!! yuk!!!!

Never got significant airtime over here in Oz.

No Black Beauty, no Batmobile, no Eleanor!!!!

Respectively bugger all airtime in Oz, talking film not series/mad for TV, too obvious.

But yeah, do like the last "one" even if 2 cars, the original 71/73 hybrid and the '67 hot-rod.......

BTILC Jack Burton's Pork-Chop Express Freightliner

I didn't get to see the films but I did see pics of the cars from the French film Taxi that looks cool. I even like the US remake when it transforms. The TV series Taxi-Brooklyn is a good show to me although the car isn't like any of the films cars.

I don't know about all time but among my nine model cars on display, three are movie cars: the low-slung, fender-skirted black '49 Mercury Eight coupe (very slightly streamlined?) that James Dean's character owned in Rebel Without a Cause (I'm not a Dean fan but understand his handsome appeal), the white slightly customized '58 Impala that Ronny Howard's character lent to "Toad" in American Graffiti (it sold for a couple hundred bucks after production because nobody wanted it! — it's still around, in private hands, doing the oldies circuit), and Christine.

I love the '66 Batmobile too, best of the Batmobiles. Sort of a parody of '50s tailfin-crazy design. The original's actually a '55 Lincoln Futura, a concept car. Concept cars usually were destroyed but this one was saved. When a car customizer for Hollywood got a rush order to make the TV Batmobile, he made these cosmetic changes to that old prototype and the rest is history. I've seen a clone (I forget what the clones are built on, some golden-era car), complete with a flame shooting out of the "jet" engine exhaust if I recall rightly. There are some nice diecast and built plastic models of this one, including I think in 1:10!

I like those Amphicar's and there are many are in Florida that go to the Lake Mirror car show in Lakeland FL in October.

I like the Batmobile but I wished he just kept it the way it was and then make a whole new body based on it because to me it is no different than destroying it completely. I believe there is only one replica that exist which I believe was based on the Batmobile replica's mold. The Futura replica appeared on the series Viper in it's first season on NBC in 1994.
