So i was watching the Christine deleted scenes and one thing in the "arnie about love scene" caught my attention. When arnie was about to step on the gas, he tapped his foot on another pedal to the very left of his feet and suddenly christines headlights got brighter. Anyone know what that is??

That would be the dimmer switch which is mounted on the floor. https://i.imgur.com/YQ4AJcD.jpg

Whats the point in that little pedal?

To put your bright lights on or dim them. Gee I feel so old.

The headlight dimmer switch was mounted on the floor on american cars for decades, while the actual headlight on/off switch is dash mounted. I don't know the exact years the floor mounted dimmers were used but I do know all the cars and trucks I've owned from the 50's through the 80's had them there.

Yep, mine have them also. It was a bit rarer in UK cars, but on american automatics it was quite common.

Found on the interweb:

From 1925-27 the dimmer switch was on the steering column. Starting in 1927 it was moved to the floor. The last vehicle to have it on the floor was the 1991 Ford F-Series pickup.

You know it took me years to stop tapping my foot around on the floor to find the dimmer switch.

My 86 Chevy has the dimmer switch on the steering column, so probably around the 80s automakers started removing the dimmer switch from the floorboard.
