Parts of my story are well known in Forward Look circles and my car infamous for how it exploded during restoration nearly killing D.T. , the guy restoring her for me in Tennessee and an Administrator here.
(later added note..... D.T. is how he is now referred to on this forum)

Almost three years ago, I was nursing wounds after pulling out of a deal with a guy that promised he could build Christines.
I lost $5000 over that but members of this club, in the form that it possessed back then, came to my rescue.

Thanks to members of the ICC I bought a wonderful, rust free 1957 Plymouth Belvedere from John Fowlie at BigM auto (a member of the ICC, see businesses section) with whom it was an absolute pleasure to do business and I can't recomend him highly enough.
He she is when she first arrived at Plymouth Rock Restorations in Tennessee.

I live near Colchester in the east of England.
Like most members here, I fell in love with a car I saw in a Movie that I was too young to be watching.
That was probably around 1984.
I read the book and vowed to own a Plymouth Fury one day.

But how could I ever source parts, maintain it, buy it etc. in England?

I grew up on a diet of 1950's and 1960's music thanks to my dad.
The movie whetted my appetite for even more music of the 1950s and has moulded my lifestyle and taste ever since.

I vowed to own a Christine by the age of 40 (which I am now) and later found out that Fury's weren't red etc.
Several years after buying my first computer, I met online, the good friends I have made here and comissioned the one time president of our old club to build me my dream car.

D.T. started work but an accident nearly killed him and my car.

A few lessons were learnt and D.T. has now gone into business building these cars and restoring others.

Those photo's are a few months old now, D.T. has made further progress and it won't be long before she'll be gracing the streets of my home village of Tiptree.

I can't praise the members of this club highly enough as so many people have helped me and given me support and advice.

It's one of the reasons we guys here all became firm friends.

D.T. started the engine up for the first time and she backfired (he thinks) igniting a can of thinner which practically exploded.
It happened before the ICC was formed, the members here that were on our old club forum all rallied around and ensured D.T. , his business and my car restoration got back on track.

I "popped" into Dean's to see his Special at the beginning of the year Eddie.
He's a straight up Bloke..... one of the good guys...

But truth be known, he knows far far far more about Cars than me...

If I blew a gasket racing him... then I'd have to pay him to fix it

Wow, you sound like me! I too have vowed to have a '58 Belvedere of my own by the time I'm 40. I just turned 32, so I'm tucking money away every month. That movie taught me what cars are supposed to look and sound like.

Your car is looking great! Can't wait to see the end result! Congrats!
