Lets get new parts made for us

Fellas, I want to rally support for, and oppinions on the possibility of members of the ICC arranging for new parts to be made up.

there are a number of possibilities:

    1. We could direct some club funds to having parts developed for our cars: A prime example is that we are VERY close to having new cardboard headliners built. All we have to do is send an old used set to a specialist company. So we need to buy a set and ship it to them. then we may be able to negotiate discounts for our members.

    2. We should actively list an promote any parts which our members are already producing. An obvious example is John's repro sportone trim elbows, which should be advertised and easily buyable via this club site. earl is working on headliner rails - can we help him along with club support or funds?

    3. We should survey what parts we would desperately like to get made up, work towards developing these parts and find a company to develop them with - or produce them ourselves. A very easy example might be reproducing our own engine bay decal sets. (I got a fantastic full decal set for my T'bird at about $20 - lovely finishing touch).

    4. Expand the range of paraphenalia sold to promote the ICC, in a way that contributes to club funds. I have already volunteered to get prices for new baseball hats, but support so far has been less than 'active'.

I am in a few other clubs and am doing similar things with them. For my Opel Monza club I have repro body decals made. Another member makes steel patch panels for the one part of the car where it suffers terminal rot - this is a massive contribution to keeping these cars on the road.

There is a wide range of expertise in our club - so why not use it to further the club coffers AND contribute to the longevity of our favourite cars. Loads of you guys have built these clones now - how about a wish list of parts we could help develop?

Great idea! Years ago, I thought it'd be worth looking into having reproduction bumper wings made. My hunch is that for certain things, there would be power in numbers for doing a "group buy" of materials or manufacturing work, but I'd be skeptical keeping things going very long just because of the extremely limited market. That said, there are probably some opportunities at least for personal consumption.

    Geoff I think it's a fantastic idea.

I could create new section called something like "how to build your Christine" or "build a Christine here".

We could advertise it on the Webpage with something like "New Section!!! (Almost) everything you need to make your Christine".

    However, everyone's always so busy.

Banners, Calenders, Clothing, Merchandise, Bumper stickers..... the only thing we've successfully managed to get off the ground was a great big P!ss up down in Tennessee.
    Everything's good!

I think that would be awsome!!!

OK, so how do we survey members parts requirements?
Bumper wings are an obvious, but may be way too ambitious for now. Club funds should be spent on getting the headliners done because that is a close possibility. Decal sets are also easy to achieve, but what does one look like?

I need a really good set of photos of an immaculate cardboard headlining install to use in negotiation for remanufacture. If anyone can help out, please do because I dont know of a plym in the UK I could photograph. This could help us all and has the added benefit of undermining the market for Mopar Muffin's rubbish repros.

$$$$$$ has a set of mine at the Rock Geoff.

I'm not sure if he'll have the change to install them prior to my car leaving TN.

    I can photograph them later.

Great.....the headlining company is chasing me for info because they are keen to put something into production. never having seen the lining I don't know what they look like up close. the only "christine's" i have seen at UK shows were 4 door or convertibles.....so not Christines at all really.

I can text $$$$$$ for photo's now mate, but I doubt we'd get a quick reply.

    What exactly do they need?

Something to take dimensions from or just to get a rough idea of what they need to look like?
    Everything's good!

They just need good photos showing the style and arrangement....I imagine they know the cars roughly. Details like to dome light cut-outs and the edge fixings would be interesting. Once they ahve an idea of what's involved we will need to get an old set of headliners to them (tatty old ones should do), and they can make a mould from that. It's a US based company called Newstalgia - check them out, they do good stuff.

I have a friend in teh UK who can Tampa print onto almost anything....how about a set of ICC glasses, seeing as how they are topical at the moment? If someone can get me good artwork image of the club logo I will see what can be done.

I'm in the process of making big block cup style mounts for the '57-9 Plymouth and Dodges.
