Look what I Spotted.....

Looks like a 48 to 49 Hudson Commodore to me but I could be wrong!

I'm agreeing with Hog on this one. Hard to distinguish between the two years, as the grill and other parts are missing.

From memory it is a 48 Hudson,
It was imported into the UK by this same owner about 1 month before i imported my 59 Dodge, So the Hudson has been here 10 years now, I saw it up close about a year after import at a local show, The paint was a lot nicer then, Matt Purple all over with dark purple flames,
Rumour has it the guys at the docks destroyed the exhaust when using a Fork Lift truck to remove it from the Container, They crushed and ripped the exhaust off and possibly the bumper, As you can see it has Flame Thrower Exhaust fitted on the Rear End PIC below..

Seems odd that the owner would pay to have it shipped over, and let it deteriorate the way it has. Must have lost interest in it.

From memory he drove it for about 3-4 years and i think i recall it being for sale but the asking price was foolish, But cannot remember the price , I presumed he done a deal as it disappeared , I noticed it a few days ago back parked outside his house and a mate of mine then told me he stored it outside at his works for the last few years,
Looks to of deteriorated some on the body now..

Would look OK in Matt Black with Chrome Smoothies and Pin Stripes.. Maybe Weld and smooth the rear doors also.

Cool photos, DV! That Mercury is a Montego; that's one of my favorite back-ends, for a non-mopar that is! The Comet had similar taillights, but was a smaller car.

Here are two I spotted recently:
First, a 1950-ish Chebby coupe in the parking lot of the Mack dealer here in Macon.


Here is a sight that was fairly common about 25 or 30 years ago, not so common today.
A 1968-ish Firebird ragtop, unrestored, cruising down the interstate!

One taillight seemed to be stuck 'on'.

I was a hand wave away from buying this 50 chev Fleetline at a estate auction a year ago. It went for 3K...
It ran, moved and looked good with newer paint job. But it needed the interior redone.
If I'd had a place to store it it would be mine...

Here's one I spotted in TN, a 1962 (?) "Rude Stude" Studebaker Gran Turismo with Ford rims resting in a front yard.


And this one is downtown Macon, a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker wagon in repose on the street.

Not seen the Hudson for a couple weeks until today, Will have to stop and get another photo for you all, But he has now had a total repaint done on it in Deep Purple with serious metal flake of some kind, Was real bright when i saw it today but had left my cell phone at the garage so couldnt get a PIC..

I fell in love with those fat-bottomed 40's cars while watching "Rich Man Poor Man"....great for staring at old cars, (you should see his 68 Caddy).

My nephew wants me to get a blue Hudson from "Cars"......might have to oblige one day.
