That's a good question. From a safety point, it would be worth keeping. Second, I have never seen a forward look car with 3 point belts until now.
    Has anyone else here?

I know it's not a FL'er, but I just installed 3-point belts on the front seats of my daughter's '61 Comet. Since a teenager will be driving it, I'd rather have safety than authenticity.

I have just came across this thread...

That is a nice '57 4-door Belvedere you have there.
And from me looking at the first photos of the car and the last photos, you have done good progress on the car. Good work!

Thank you everybody for all the compliments. I will take better pictures of the 3 point seat belt, but I was actually unaware that that's not factory. But I did notice that the female part of the seat belt has some on risers from the floor so maybe that should have been an indication that it's not factory.

Crissy, the dash pad was not too difficult, with the hardest part being wrapping the vinyl because on both sides it's an exposed edge and you can't cover it with any trim. Mine came out about a B+ but I think I could redo it later and maybe get a better job. It was kind of hard to lay the vinyl over the quarter inch foam by myself and get everything to line up perfect. I never expect this card to be perfect, I just want a really fun forward-looking car back on the road!

And thanks again for all the compliments! I love posting pictures of my progress if you guys love to look at them.

    -polished out the hubcaps
    - Swapped out the front valance for one in much better shape
    - polished the grille
-installed grille "V" and took of the "flagship"
-pulled out my gauge cluster and cleaned up all gauges and got them ALL working correctly INCLUDING the clock.
    - completely overhauled the front drum brakes with all new parts.
-rear axle brakes were FUCKED, so pulled another axle of my other 57 and it is ready to be installed
-installed a new to me windshield (old glass was laminating) and I cracked the new glass putting it in.....

Major things I have left checklist...

_install another axle and do a complete rear brake all overhaul, then Bleed all the brakes.
_Install gauge cluster and wire it up (along with oil/temp switch)
_Check all the lights and make sure they all work
_Connect new fuel line (new gas tank already installed)
_lower torsion bars and install rear 2" drop blocks (Because I like the low life)
    _Finish door panels and headliner

She's looking nice! The sport tone really makes a huge difference! How'd you get the carpet to lay down so nice without wrinkles?

That is neat, Paul! I like the combo of 1957/58 parts. Deluxe wheel and grill 'V' are nice touches. What metal did you use for the new inserts? Some 1958 fender ornaments would really 'top' it off! Is that old insert set for sale? Marc.

Thanks John! Couldn't make the sportone happen without your elbows! Haha!

I just bought a huge roll of generic carpet and 1/2 insulation and glued it down. It was really pretty difficult to do on my own. I had to pull it back a few times to help get some wrinkles out. I used heavy duty vinyl top glue.

Marc, I do not have a set of old inserts. What you're looking at in the photo is aluminum trim coil that I cut in the shape of the inserts and I glued Fury Jim's mylar inserts to the aluminum.
