Thread: Ribbed roof trim clips

  1. #41
Don't know the price yet because I had to apply for a trade account to buy them. I told them what it is for and that I did not want a thousand and they said they often have customers wanting to "split a box", (take less than the minimum amount). If they do this time round I can buy whatever the other customer does not want from his 1000 and they will work out a price for the rest. As long as it's not silly money I don't mind buying them because I suspect they will also do for the sporttone trim.

The wide sporttone too? That sounds great. Have you tried it yet?

I tried a fitting today and found the assembly does not quite work as planned . The clip performs very well but it has to be fitted to the rail THEN plugged into the body. Problem is the stainless trim is a bit too thick to force the stud to clip into the hole properly. I will see how I can solve the issue asap.

In the meantime, has anyone tried one of these GM clips instead?

Update: I have approached over a dozen manufacturers of spring steel and plastic clips to try to find something which will do the job or if anyone can make them. Sadly only two replied and can't help.

The CCC thread mentions this company-
    Steel Craft Canada
    905-838-3513

But they don't have a website or email address. Aparently they make the roof clips in stainless steel at about $4 each. Anyone know of them, or able to determine where they are in Canada?

I found another lead on the AuVeCo trim clips, hopefully this time I'll find them. This is becoming a mission.

It looks like Tin-foilMan has hit a roadblock, but the Incredible Bulk has pulled ahead in the lead!!

I have now approached 17 companies looking for plastic or steel clips. Not a single reply! What is wrong with these people?!?
The Canada guy is supposed to be good.

Now looking at getting some stainless steel strips and making my own.

Apparently clips from an 82-89 Pontiac/ Cutlass are the right size, but need to check on the screw hole position.

    This is getting very frustrating.

Now these guys decided they cant get them either, I was hoping there was some sitting on a dusty back shelf somewhere but it looks like I'm SOL....

    John.......SOL?

Have tried a few more companies here and in Europe. Still no news.

I wonder if the only way to go is to make a die out of brass and hammer my own out of stainless steel strips.
