Thread: Autolite Distributor

    Autolite Distributor

I donīt have an original distributor as the preowner changed to the mopar ignition kit which comes with the whole distributor for changing.
Apart from the original contact ignition, original dizzy would also be needed for the Pertronix system.

I start thinking that having an original might be useful. Maybe Iīll change to the Pertronix system someday - when the next ignition box will fail.

Parts manual says: For a 1958 Plymouth Savoy with a standard 318cui itīs an Autolite IBP 4003F.
Does someone know if this is the only Autolite dizzy that fits?

What I found out in another thread: IBP is single point while IBK and IAZ are dual point.

Does anyone have an IBP 4003F in good condition for sale here?

I found the distributor you mentioned on Ebay:

Yes I already found it. But I donīt know if it matches.

All I know is that the Interchange Parts Manual says 8-27-1 distributor assembly -> LP2 -> IBP 4003F -> Chrysler part 1842607

These are exactly the numbers on the distributor in one of Marioīs cars.

You gave out the part number and the part that the vendor is selling matches your request save for the letter. All I can advise you is to contact the seller on Ebay and ask if he has an interchange chart or ask John Fowlie.

I'm sure I can come up with a match for your distributor, Andy.

Thanks John, for your offer! I would like to put an IBP 4003F aside for the case of a procpecting conversion to another ignition system.
This is the only matching distributor I know based on the parts manual. Of course others may also do the job, but I donīt know.
    Please PM me, thank you!
